EFDI Appoints Alejandra Becerril Nistal as Co-Leader of the Cross-Border Working Group
The European Forum of Deposit Insurers and Investor Compensation Schemes (EFDI) is pleased to announce that, at its meeting on 17 September, the members of the EU Management Executive (EUME) have appointed September Alejandra Becerril Nistal as Co-Leader of the EFDI Cross-Border Working Group (CBWG).
Alejandra will lead the Working Group together with its current Co-Leader, Daniel Nový, supporting the continued development of cooperation among EFDI members on cross-border matters.
The CBWG plays a key role within EFDI by facilitating cooperation and promoting the exchange of practical experience in cross-border depositor reimbursement. Its main objectives include collecting relevant data on cross-border matters; reviewing and updating the Home-Host Cooperation Multilateral Cooperation Agreement and its accompanying Rulebook; supporting the harmonisation of bilateral cooperation agreements; and drafting non-binding guidance, where appropriate.
EFDI warmly welcomes Alejandra to this new role and, together with Daniel and the members of the CBWG, looks forward to further strengthening effective cross-border cooperation among deposit guarantee schemes.
About Alejandra Becerril Nistal
Alejandra Becerril Nistal is a Senior Expert in the International Affairs and Policy Division of the Fondo de Garantía de Depósitos de Entidades de Crédito (FGD), the Spanish deposit guarantee scheme. She has 17 years of experience in the financial sector, with expertise in European banking regulation, prudential requirements, regulatory reporting, recovery and resolution planning, crisis management and deposit guarantee policy.
Alejandra has served as a Seconded National Expert in the Conduct, Payments and Consumers Unit at the European Banking Authority (EBA), working on depositor protection and payments. At the EBA, she chaired the working group responsible for developing standards under the revised Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive, particularly the one devoted to the Guidelines on Investments for Deposit Insurers.
At FGD, Alejandra has worked on policy and regulatory developments affecting deposit guarantee schemes. She also participated in the EBA peer review on DGS stress tests, including cross-border stress-testing exercises with other European deposit guarantee schemes, and has contributed to policy work within the International Association of Deposit Insurers, including the review of the IADI Core Principles and the paper E-Money and Deposit Insurance Policy Options.
Before joining FGD, Alejandra held senior regulatory and financial roles at international firms such as Credit Suisse Bank Europe S.A., where her responsibilities included regulatory capital, reporting, resolution planning and engagement with financial authorities.
