EFDI EU Committee Meeting in Oslo on 29 and 30 April 2025

On Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 April, the EU Committee meeting was held in Oslo, hosted by the Norwegian Banks Guarantee Fund (NBGF) at their headquarters in Dronning Mauds gate 10, Oslo.

We were pleased to welcome our members for two days of productive discussions, insightful presentations, and valuable exchanges.

Meeting Highlights:

• Welcoming Remarks: Stig Helberg, CEO of the Norwegian DGS, opened the meeting, welcoming all participants.
• Cross Border Working Group (CBWG): Co-leaders Borja Peletero and Ivy Jeuken provided a report on activities, followed by a detailed discussion on the review of the EFDI Cooperation Multilateral Agreement, with a specific discussion also on data protection provisions.
• Revised Cost Matrix: Antoaneta Geala and Arnaud Schangel presented the updated draft Cost Matrix, which was discussed and is expected to be sent shortly for approval through written procedure.
• Latvian DGS Presentation: Ilze Posuma shared insights on the funding, payouts, and lessons learned by the Latvian DGS.
• D3I Updates: Renata Kadlecova, Co-leader of the D3I Working Group, presented recent activities, followed by a discussion on the D3I Position Paper on Cooperation with other Financial Safety Net Players (FSN). 
• EFDI Research Paper on Contingent Liabilities: Espen Sørlie presented the findings of the EFDI Research Paper on the Assessment of DGS Contingent Liabilities, generating an engaging discussion.
• Update on CMDI Framework: Maciej Szczęsny provided an update on the EU Bank Crisis Management and Deposit Insurance (CMDI) framework.
• Database Updates: Marcello Bredice presented the latest developments regarding the DGS and ICS Databases.
• Compensation Case Presentation: Martin Boegl and Juliane Seiter from the EdB (Compensation Scheme of German Private Banks) shared a case study on the Bankhaus Obotritia compensation case.
