
EFDI FINANCIAL TECNOLOGY WORKING GROUP 13 FEBRUARY 2025
On Thursday 13th January 2025, the EFDI hosted in its new premises in Brussels the first Working Group meeting for the Financial Technology Working Group (Fintech).
The meeting was open by the Fintech leaders, Ms. Juliane Seiter and Mr. Christian Helwig outlining the objectives of the gathering and the key topics to be discussed throughout the day.
Ms. Anneka Beccarelly (EAS Liechtenstein) provided an update on the awareness paper regarding the coverage of crypto assets under deposit guarantees and investor compensation purposes.
Mr. Michel Bauch (Auditing Association of German Banks e.V.) delivered a presentation on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in the auditing industry, examining how AI technologies are reshaping audit practices.
Ms. Charlotte Marc (European Banking Authority, virtual) presented the latest findings from the EBA's 2024 report on tokenised deposits, where an analysis on the tokenisation of deposits by credit institutions has been carried out to identify existing cases, potential benefits and challenges, and actions the EBA and competent authorities may take to address any identified issue
The second part of meeting was focused on Member’s experience on payout web platforms where Ms. Tanja Blankenburg (EdB Germany) shared the development and functionality of the new EdB payout platform. Mr. Marcello Bredice and Mr. Alessio Greco (FGD-BCC, Italy) also shared with the audience the FGDCC platform, focusing on its efficiency in processing online reimbursements.
After that, there was an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to share their thoughts and experiences.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the upcoming initiatives for the FinTech Working Group, including the development of a questionnaire regarding policies and usage of Artificial Intelligence by members
