EFDI PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE, LONDON, 31 JANUARY 2025

On Thursday 31ST January 2025, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) hosted in London the EFDI Public Relations and Communication (PRC) Committee, bringing together experts to discuss ongoing communication, risk management, crisis preparedness, and regulatory matters.
 
The agenda included a variety of significant updates and presentations:
  • The session kicked off with a warm welcome from Mr. Jonathan Pallant, Head of Public Affairs and Stakeholders at FSCS where he had the chance to emphasize the important role that effective communication plays for Deposit Guarantee Schemes and highlighted the challenges that lie ahead for us in the evolving financial landscape
  • After that, Mr. Dionis Catanoi, Director,  from the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (FGDSB) of Moldova our new EFDI Member, highlighted Moldova's communication methods, tools, and action plans aimed at enhancing depositor protection during peaceful times.
  • It was then followed by a presentation made by Ms. Emma Barrow, Head of Communication at FSCS, who shared the outcomes of the 2024 Public Awareness Campaign, followed by discussions on redesigning protection materials to improve depositor information. She also  also informed the group about their recent experience in the last FSCS payout case.
  • Mr. Robert Meulenbroek, Senior Advisor at De Nederlandsche Bank, talked about the new public awareness campaign that it was launched in 2024, that resulted in an increase of public awareness to 68%.
  • Afterwards, Ms. Roxana Chinole of FGDB Romania and Ms. Camille Froissart of FGDR France focused on the results of the bilateral cross-border stress tests conducted in December 2024 between FGDR and FGDB.
  • The coleader of the Risk Management Working Group, Mr. Loïc Trintignac then focused on risk management and communication, giving a short debrief on the 30 January meeting.
  • A detailed update from Ms. Renata Kadlecova, co-leader of the EFDI D3I Working Group, discussed the potential EBA Guidelines and Implementing Technical Standards to be issued in the context of the review of the Directive 2014/49 (DGSD) under the Crisis Management and Deposit Insurance (CMDI) framework.
  • Mr. Carlos Colao, Secretary General of EFDI, gave an update on the progress of the Secretariat digital communication means.
  • The event ended with a fruitful roundtable discussion with the participants about their recent update on communications and with the closing remarks given by Mr. Jonathan Pallant thanking all the attendees and speakers for their participation and insights.
