Published on October 1, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

We are really happy to share with you the non-binding guidelines paper prepared by EFDI's Risk Management Working Group (RMWG):

"Ensuring Stability: A Roadmap to Robust Risk Management in Deposit Guarantee Schemes"

As you alll are aware, risk management at a macro level is critical to organizational strategy, but within the financial landscape, it is equally essential to develop strong risk management frameworks for deposit guarantee schemes (DGSs).

DGSs play a key role in safeguarding depositors and ensuring financial stability, making tailored risk management crucial.

Given the diversity in legal and operational structures across European DGSs, risk management systems vary significantly. This paper, aligned with the COSO framework and also emphasizes ISO standards to fit this very diverse community.

It aims to outline fundamental principles and strategies for DGS-specific risk management, offering insights into building robust frameworks that promote depositor confidence and financial stability.

We would like to thank the leaders of RMWG, Melinda Friesz and Loïc Trintignac and the rest the Members for all their work in the preparation of this paper.
