CALL FOR PAPERS

The European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI), in cooperation with the Bank Guarantee Fund (Bankowy Fundusz Gwarancyjny, BFG) in Warsaw, invites submissions of scholarly and policy-oriented papers for publication in a special issue of Safe Bank (Bezpieczny Bank), to be released ahead of the EFDI Annual General Meeting which will be held in Gdańsk in May 2027.

The journal was established in 1997 at the initiative of the BFG Council and will therefore mark its thirtieth anniversary next year. It is aimed at the academic community, policymakers and financial institutions, with articles focusing on topics such as financial safety, deposit guarantee systems and banking resolution.

We welcome contributions from leading experts, policymakers, academics, and practitioners working on financial stability, deposit insurance, resolution frameworks, and crisis management. The purpose of our initiative is to foster high‑quality research, support evidence‑based policymaking, and promote dialogue across European jurisdictions and beyond.

Topics of Special Interest

We welcome original contributions addressing, among others:

  • The challenges of deposit insurance systems in Europe and globally;
  • Funding models, risk‑based contributions, and the future of ex‑ante financing;
  • The role of deposit insurers in crisis preparedness and crisis management;
  • Early‑warning systems, stress testing;
  • Liability models for deposit guarantee schemes (DGSs);
  • Interactions between deposit insurance, resolution, and supervision;
  • The impact of digitalisation, new financial technologies, artificial intelligence and cyber‑risk on depositor protection;
  • Communication strategies and public confidence in financial safety nets;
