EFDI Appoints Mr Daniel Nový as Co-Leader of the Cross-Border Working Group Brussels 1 July 2026

The European Forum of Deposit Insurers and Investor Compensation Schemes (EFDI) is pleased to announce that the members of the EU Management Executive have appointed Mr Daniel Nový as Co-Leader of the EFDI Cross-Border Working Group (CBWG).

Mr Nový will co-lead the Working Group, supporting the continued development of cooperation among EFDI members on cross-border matters.

The CBWG plays a key role within EFDI by facilitating cooperation and promoting the exchange of practical experience in cross-border depositor reimbursement.  Its main objectives include collecting relevant data on cross-border matters; review and update of the Home-Host Cooperation Multilateral Cooperation Agreement and its accompanying Rulebook; supporting the harmonisation of bilateral cooperation agreements; and drafting non-binding guidance, where appropriate.

EFDI warmly welcomes Mr Nový to this new role and together with the members of the CBWG looks forward to strengthening effective cross-border cooperation among deposit guarantee schemes.

About Mr Daniel Nový

Daniel Nový currently works as a senior lawyer at the Czech Financial Market Guarantee System.  He joined the Czech DGS in January 2025.

Daniel is mainly responsible for the DGS’s legal agenda concerning deposit insurance, including legal representation and coordination of reimbursement and debt recovery claims, is responsible for the DGS’s contractual relations, and actively participates in international agenda, including in EFDI and IADI activities.

During his professional career, Daniel also worked as a lawyer in major telecommunications and energy utility companies in the Czech Republic and in international law firms in Prague and in Washington, D.C.  He also worked as a lawyer at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served as a diplomat in the United States of America.

Daniel holds law degrees from Ireland, the Czech Republic, and the United States.
