
EFDI Elects New Leadership at the 2026 Annual General Meeting in Bucharest

Bucharest, 11 June 2026
The European Forum of Deposit Insurers- Association of European Deposit Guarantee Schemes and Investor Compensation Schemes- (EFDI) is pleased to announce the election of its new leadership following the decisions taken by the General Assembly during the EFDI Annual General Meeting held in Bucharest, Romania, on 11 June 2026.
The newly elected representatives bring extensive experience in deposit guarantee schemes, investor compensation schemes, financial regulation and international cooperation, further strengthening EFDI’s mission of promoting depositor and investor protection across Europe.
Sonja Lill Flø Myklebust: elected Chairperson
The General Assembly elected Ms Sonja Lill Flø Myklebust as Chairperson of EFDI for a two-year term.
Ms Myklebust serves as Head of the Norwegian Banks’ Guarantee Fund (NBGF), where she oversees analysis, crisis management and international affairs. Since joining NBGF in 2009, she has played a leading role in the Fund’s engagement with European and international institutions, including EFDI, IADI, the EBA and EGBPI (EU).
Prior to joining NBGF, she spent fourteen years at KPMG, where she specialised in the audit of major financial institutions, internal control and risk management. Ms Myklebust has held several senior leadership positions within IADI, including Chair of the Audit and Risk Council Committee, Vice-Chair of the European Regional Committee and member of the Executive Council. She has served on the EFDI Board of Directors since 2022 and has been EFDI Treasurer since the same year until her new elections as Chairperson.
She holds a BA with Honours from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and graduated as Certified Public Accountant with a degree in Professional Accountancy from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen.
Pénélope Trumble: elected Board Member and Treasurer
The General Assembly elected Ms Pénélope Trumble as Board Member and Treasurer for a three-year term.
Ms Trumble is currently Head of the Belgian Deposit Guarantee Scheme and a member of the Management Committee of the Belgian Investor Compensation Scheme. She is responsible for the strategic, legal and operational aspects of depositor protection in Belgium, in addition to being accountable for investor compensation matters and the protection of life insurance policyholders.
Since joining the Belgian DGS in 2020, she has played a central role in the reform of Belgium’s deposit protection framework, including the transposition of key provisions of the Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive (DGSD) into Belgian law. Since becoming Head of the Belgian DGS in 2024, she has led major operational and technological reforms, strengthened testing frameworks with the banking sector and enhanced international cooperation through active participation in EFDI and EBA workstreams.
Isabelle Gil: elected Board Member
The General Assembly elected Ms Isabelle Gil as Board Member for a three-year term.
Ms Gil is Head of the Depositor and Investor Protection Department at the Luxembourg financial supervisory authority (CSSF, Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier) and serves as Secretary of both the Management Committee of the Luxembourg Deposit Guarantee Fund (FGDL, Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts Luxembourg) and the Council for the Protection of Depositors and Investors. (CPDI).
Before joining the CSSF, she has worked several years at PwC and Deloitte in Luxembourg, where she specialized in the banking sector regarding dedicated areas such as risk management, AML/CTF, corporate finance, and internal / external audit as well. Now, she brings extensive practical experience acquired through multiple activations of Luxembourg’s deposit guarantee and investor compensation schemes. Under her leadership, her department has managed several real-life payout cases, providing valuable operational expertise and practical insights into depositor and investor protection. She is actively involved in several EFDI Working Groups and her team in EBA workstreams as well. She is widely recognised for her commitment to sharing best practices and strengthening cooperation among European schemes.
G. Péter Nagy: elected EU Management Executive Member
The General Assembly elected Mr Péter G. Nagy as EU Management Executive Member for a three-year term.
Mr Nagy is Director of Legal and International Affairs at the National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary (NDIF), where he previously served as General Counsel. He has been actively involved in EFDI initiatives for many years, including co-chairing the Legal Subgroup of the H2C Working Group and contributing to the development of the first EFDI Multilateral Cooperation Agreement. More recently, he has co-chaired EFDI’s DGSD3 Initiative Working Group.
Before joining NDIF, he worked as an attorney with leading international law firms and as a financial analyst in the banking sector. His academic background includes an MBA in Finance, a Juris Doctor degree and an LL.M. from Northwestern University in Chicago. He has also completed internships with the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the United Nations.
Ignacio Santillán ratified as Associate Members Observer
The General Assembly ratified Mr Ignacio Santillán as Associate Members Observer for a three-year term after the election made by the EFDI Associate Members.
Mr Santillán has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Spanish Investor Compensation Scheme for Investment Firms (FOGAIN) since 2005. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held senior legal and executive positions within key Spanish financial market institutions, including the CNMV, Spain’s securities clearing and settlement infrastructure and leading international law firms.
A recognised expert in securities market regulation and investor protection, he has contributed extensively to academic and professional discussions through publications and teaching activities. He has also served on the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG) of ESMA and currently participates in the Consultative Panel of the Spanish Securities Markets Supervisor.
Appreciation to Outgoing Board Members
The General Assembly also expressed its sincere gratitude to Mr Stefan Tacke, outgoing Chairperson, and Dr. Jan Tibor Böttcher, outgoing Board Member, for their outstanding commitment, leadership and dedication to EFDI over recent years.
Under their stewardship, EFDI has continued to strengthen its position as the leading European association representing Deposit Guarantee Schemes and Investor Compensation Schemes, fostering cooperation, knowledge sharing and policy dialogue at both European and international levels.
