📰 Press Release: EFDI Stress Test Working Group (STWG) and Fintech Working Group Meetings. Berlin, 13 and 14 November 2025

The German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) kindly hosted by at its Berlin premises the European Forum of Deposit Insurers’ (EFDI) two key working group meetings successfully led by Mr José María Fernández (Leader of the Stress Test Working Group) and by Mr Christian Helwig and Mr Alessio Greco (Co-Leaders of the Fintech Working Group).

Stress Test Working Group (STWG) – 13 November

The STWG meeting brought together experts to exchange insights on strengthening DGS resilience through advanced testing methodologies. Key agenda highlights included:

  • Precautionary measures and protection – How an IPS works, presented by Ms Michaela Norgall (DSGV, Germany).
  • Testing Serbian DIA’s new payout software and procedures: lessons learnt and next steps, by Ms Ljubica Pantelic (DIA, Serbia).
  • Stress Test of DGS’s Contribution to Resolution Measures, by Mr Roman Kahanek and Mr Daniel Novy (GSTF, Czech Republic).
  • Reporting live from H2C test, by Ms Ivy Jeuken, Ms Myrna van Dijk (DNB, Netherlands) and Ms Juliane Seiter (EdB)
  • A Tour de Table on recent initiatives such as SCV data quality, DGS systems testing, and crisis simulations with national authorities.

Fintech Working Group – 14 November

The Fintech Working Group held a dynamic and forward-looking session addressing fast-evolving topics shaping the financial landscape. Highlights included:

  • An update on the Digital Euro’s advancement by Mr Manfred Richter (ECB Digital Euro Rulebook Development WG).
  • A strategic discussion on AI risks and opportunities, featuring Mr Oliver Gordon (Co-Leader of EFDI’s Risk Management Working Group) and a preliminary survey draft on AI usage across DGSs and ICSs presented by Mr Alessio Greco (FGD CC, Italy).
  • A lively debate on crypto and stablecoins, with Ms Anneka Beccarelli (EAS Liechtenstein) sharing insights from the paper “Potential Coverage of Crypto Assets for Deposit Guarantee and Investor Compensation Purposes.”

We warmly thank Mr Alessio Greco and Mr Christian Helwig for steering these critical discussions.
