EFDI CROSS BORDER WORKING GROUP MEETING. BERLIN ,23 JANUAURY 2025
On Thursday 23 January 2025, the Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V. / Association of German Banks hosted in Berlin (Germany) the EFDI Cross Border Working Group Meeting (CBWG).
The main focus of the meeting was the discussion on the review of the EFDI Home DGS – Host DGS Cooperation Multilateral Agreement (H2C Agreement). This agreement was drafted in 2016 with the purpose of developing a framework for cross-border payouts and the reimbursement procedures for credit institutions with branches in other EU Member States under the requirements set forth in Article 14 (5) of the Directive 2014/49/EU of 16 April 2014 on deposit guarantee schemes (DGSD) and the EBA Guidelines on cooperation agreements between DGSs.
The objective of the H2C Agreement is to facilitate an effective cooperation between Deposit Guarantee Schemes (DGSs) and, where appropriate, the designated authorities in the EU. In particular, the h2c Agreement specifies, in advance, various aspects for repayment of depositors at branches and other issues for cooperation between DGSs.
EFDI would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V. / Association of German Banks and, in particular, to Mr. Martin Boegl, Ms. Tanja Blankenburg and Ms. Juliane Seiter for this excellent event.
Additionally, EFDI would like to thank the leaders of the CBWG, Mr. Borja Peletero and Ms. Ivy Jeuken and the rest of the CBWG Members for participating in this important and necessary discussions that aims on improving and updating our existing H2C Agreement.
