AFFILIATION OF MICRO-EUROPE STATES WORKING GROUP (AMES) MEETING
The Isle of Man Resolution and Deposit Compensation Division hosted the 21st AMES (Affiliation of Micro European States) meeting in the Isle of Man on 10th October, members of FRAMES (Forum of Resolution Authorities in Micro European States) were also invited with the objective of improving the collaboration between the two bodies. Carlos Colao, the Secretary General of EFDI also attended in person.
AMES was officially established as a Working Group of EFDI in November 2018 following EFDI Annual General Meeting in Sarajevo and it focuses on parallel development and support of smaller European connected jurisdictions and intends to be a voice for smaller jurisdictions.
At the meeting updates were provided to members from the EFDI working Groups-Fintech, Public Relations & Communication, Risk Management and Stress Testing, with Mr. Brynjar Kristjansson (Central Bank of Iceland) providing an update on IADI (International Association of Deposit Insurers) Core Principles.
It was also discussed how AMES could more closely integrate with EFDI which included different initiatives aiming at this goal.
An open discussion then took place relating to how AMES and FRAMES could work collaboratively together, and it was decided that FRAMES members be invited to one of the inter-active teams’ meetings annually.
Each jurisdiction then provided an update on recent developments relating to both Deposit Compensation Scheme/Resolution in their area.
Delegates were invited to a reception at Government House hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, Sir John Lorimer and Lady Philipa Lorimer, also in attendance were Government Ministers, Chief Executives and the Leadership team and Board members of the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority.
