EFDI Joint Stress-Test Working Group (STWG) & FinTech Working Group Meetings
The European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI) successfully held its Joint Meetings of the STWG and FinTech WGs on 4 and 5 March 2026 at the EFDI Offices in Brussels
The meetings served as an important platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strengthening cooperation across Europe’s financial safety-net community to discuss key developments in stress testing, crisis preparedness, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital financial innovation.
The first day was opened by José María Fernández Real, Leader of the STWG, who welcomed participants and introduced the agenda. The programme included:
🔵 Országos Betétbiztosítási Alap (OBA)/National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary Stress Test Methodology presented by Daniel Beres.
🔵 Testing Coordination and Communication: Key Lessons Learned from a Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution–Fondo de Garantía de Depósitos España simulation, presented jointly by Sylvie Godron-de Maintenant and Jacobo Pintos Maquieira, ROAC, CIA.
🔵 An analysis of expected contributions of Deposit Guarantee Schemes (DGS) to resolution and impacts on liability models, presented by Sonja Lill F. Myklebust, Kristoffer Borgen Kvilten and Magnus Qvale (Bankenes sikringsfond).
🔵 Cyber Security for Deposit Insurers: The Financial Services Compensation Scheme Perspective, presented by Sudarshan Ratnavelu.
🔵 A session on the European regulatory framework on Artificial Intelligence and the AI Act, presented by Ana-Maria Fimin (European Commission) and moderated by Christian Helwig (FinTech WG Co-Leader).
The second day was led by Alessio Greco and Christian Helwig, Co-Leaders of the FinTech WG.
The programme featured:
🟢 A detailed presentation on the Regulation on the Establishment of the Digital Euro, delivered by Jorge Ruiz Jiménez.
🟢 A discussion of the AI Survey Results conducted across EFDI members, presented by the Leaders of the Fintech WG.
🟢 A presentation on potential AI Usage within a DGS by Sonja Lill F. Myklebust, Kristoffer Borgen Kvilten and Magnus Qvale.
🟢 An overview of the Instant Payments Regulation and Related Market Developments, presented by Christophe Bonte (European Banking Federation).
The meetings concluded with a Joint Tour de Table on ongoing and future projects in the Stress-Test and FinTech fields, moderated by the STWG and Fintech Leaders.
